Henry Kapono is a performer who has it all – vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, composer, thrilling performer, audience favorite—and multiple honors and awards, including a Grammy nomination. He has taken home 18 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards (Hawaii’s“Grammy”) including Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Rock Album of the Year, Best EP and Compilation of the Year in 2019 for “The Songs of C&K”.  Henry is also known for his legendary “Dukes on Sunday” afternoon Beach concerts on Waikiki beach. In its 27th year, Dukes on Sunday is also streamed live to tens of thousands of people worldwide each Sunday from 5p to 6p HST on the Henry Kapono Facebook Page.

He has been at the creative forefront of contemporary Hawaiian music throughout his career – from the laid-back island rock of Cecilio & Kapono in the 1970s and 80s, to launching his solo career that produced 20 albums and fans around the world including his Henry Kapono & Friends collaborations celebrating the music that represents the sound track of Hawaii and his ground breaking Wild Hawaiian that fuses the power of Hawaiian traditions with driving rock rhythms and a soundtrack for the new century. The simple honesty of his lyrics and music touch the soul and his wildly talented guitar-playing shares his joy in being alive. Henry has travelled the world with innovation and creativity of music that very few artists are able to sustain.
 
Known as Henry "Kapono", the Hawaiian word for righteous, Henry is pure Hawaiian, born and raised in Kapahulu, a small town just outside Waikiki. He started singing in a children's church choir at age 5. His athletic abilities earned him a baseball scholarship to the renowned Punahou Academy (President Obama’s alma mater) and a football scholarship to the University of Hawai‘i. Injuries prevented a career as a professional football player, but, profoundly, moved him toward his passion for music and allowed him to fully realize his potential as an artist. Though he had no formal musical training, "My Dad taught me how to play the ‘ukulele.” says Henry. “I saw a friend of mine play a guitar one day and fell in love with the sound of it. He taught me a few chords and I've been hooked ever since.”

Touring with a local rock band in the late 60s, Henry ended up stranded by the promoter in Vietnam. He and the band spent 2 years performing for the troops in Vietnam and Thailand before returning to Hawai‘i. The experience left him with a lasting commitment to peace, a deep appreciation for life, and compassion and aloha (love) for all people—themes that continue to resonate in his music. 
When he soared to the forefront of Hawaiian music in the 1970s with the duo Cecilio & Kapono, they became the first Hawai‘i group to achieve a national recording contract (Columbia Records). Together they recorded 13 albums, giving contemporary and folk rock—and Hawaiian music—a new perspective. 
Always musically adventurous, Henry launched a solo career in 1981; he has released 20 albums to date. He continues to break new ground with his collaborations – The Wild Hawaiian in 2006, joining driving rock and slam poetry with Hawaiian chant, Henry Kapono & FRIENDS concert series in 2014 featuring Henry and many other top entertainers from Hawaii and beyond, The Rough Riders in 2015 celebrating the Hawaiian Cowboys (Paniolo) with haunting harmonies and a unique blending or guitars – that appeal to audiences around the world. In 2017 the legacy of Henry’s music was featured in the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles as well as the Hawaii Convention Center. In 2018 He launched the Henry Kapono Foundation supporting Hawaii’s music and the Arts with a groundbreaking & award winning project producing 10 of Hawaii’s most popular upcoming artists in a modern collaboration of “the Songs of C&K” in both Cd and Vinyl.
Henry is also the author of the award winning children's book, A Beautiful Hawaiian Day, has appeared in major motion pictures, films, and many television appearances.

Circle The Earth Is Alive With “Dead”
Los Angeles-Based International Band Explodes with New Single and Video (Los Angeles, California) Anchored by a powerhouse rhythm section and super charged by blazing guitars and atmospheric keyboards, Circle The Earth’s trio of smoldering singers gives voice to a revelatory declaration of female empowerment with “Dead,” the band’s inaugural release of 2021.
Tracked at Revolver Recordings in Thousand Oaks, CA, “Dead” bonds the band’s sizzling rock energy to a soaring pop melody, with a potent rap by lead vocalist Khadia Handon upping the impact.
The accompanying video reveals Circle The Earth in full concert regalia, framed by inventive camera angles and staged on a hazy industrial set that highlights the band’s onstage chemistry. Provocative costumes, swirling smoke, and commanding attitude all serve to heighten the drama.
As envisioned by the band’s bassist and founder – Atlanta, GA native Michael McBay – Circle The Earth’s global cast of accomplished musicians mirrors their inclusive Southern California base, with members from the U.S., Brazil, Japan and Taiwan. This diversity underscores the band’s mission to spread a message of unity, hope, and humanity.
Individually, the members of Circle The Earth have performed with a roster of artists ranging from Imagine Dragons to Steve Vai to Lauren Hill, in venues including The Hollywood Bowl, The Greek Theater, and historic Hollywood rock clubs. In 2020, the band’s current lineup was solidified. McBay notes that Circle The Earth shares a powerful decree of democracy. “I wanted to do music with a spiritual approach,” he says. “It was my goal to work with the most talented, sincere, deserving people I could find.”
“Dead,” now available on all streaming platforms, is the first of a series of singles to drop in what promises to be a banner year for Circle The Earth.
