ABOUT HENRY KAPONO:
Native Hawaiian Henry Kapono is a Grammy-nominated and multi-award-winning singer-songwriter known for his soulful voice and captivating performances. Rising to fame in the '70s as one half of the iconic duo Cecilio & Kapono, or ‘C&K,' Kapono continues to inspire audiences worldwide. Today, he is a leading figure in Hawai'i's music scene, heading Kapono Inc., a premier entertainment company. With a career spanning decades, he has expanded his roles as a producer, music director, and community leader.
Rob Gallas' earliest memory of singing and performing was at four years of age when
he would walk over to neighbors house and sing “Raindrops Keep Falling on
My Head” for pocket change. Always a singer, performer and lover of music, Rob ‘s
talent and passion comes naturally from his parents, who were both singers .
His mother was a self-taught pianist who played by ear. Rob came from a large family and
was the youngest of six children who all appreciated and collected albums throughout
their childhood. Music was always playing in the house, whether it was his parents'
collection of crooner classics like Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett or his siblings'
eclectic array of rock and pop music, from David Bowie and Queen to Bruce Springsteen
and Jackson Brown, to Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson. This inspiration from both his
parents' and his siblings' soundtracks spurred Rob to start singing and fronting bands
in his late teens and picking up the guitar not long after.
The new solo project and EP “All That is True”:
Rob has always been fond of collaborating and creating music with other artists and
continues to do so with Moral DK and The Hidden Factor, but an accumulation of solo
material over the years with musical styles that don’t necessarily fit the projects
mentioned gave way to the solo project. The new EP, “All That Is True” includes three
songs - “Secrets In The Cellar," “One Of Us” and “A Rocker Dies Everyday.” The
EP is a classic, acoustic singer-songwriter venture filled with emotion, catchy melodies,
intricate harmonies and epic crescendos. “Secrets In the Cellar” is a soul-searcher
revealing the need to face your fears and realizing “the only way is through it” to find all
that is true. “One Of Us” is an epic composition, speaking to the struggles of the human
spirit and the need for love and support as we navigate through the challenges of life.
Lastly, “A Rocker Dies Everyday,” is a tribute to Rob’s musical heroes who have
passed away over the last decade. This song is a rocker indeed that identifies some of
the great songwriters of our generation and speaks to the spirit of their music that
continues to live on and inspire us all. “The entire process has been a
liberating experience, finally tapping into these songs that have been accumulating over
the years," Rob noted. "I still prefer to collaborate with others but felt the need to step out of the
usual creative process and try something new where I’m the driving the project--
arranging, songwriting and making all the final decisions. I feel it is a true
representation of what I hear musically, but I could not have done it without the help of
my amazingly talented and generous friends whom I love, respect and thank so much
for their contributions in this effort.” For more information hit Rob's facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/rob.gallas.music
