Michael Tomlinson
Seattle based songwriter/singer/story teller Michael Tomlinson has been performing his intimate, often-funny and deeply moving concerts at the Coach House for 30 years now. He comes back every two or three years to an audience as excited to see him as the ones who would come out in the late 1980s. Part of the reason for that — besides his beautiful, mesmerizing songs — is that they think of Michael as an old friend. His long-time practice of staying in touch with his audience through stories and website ramblings, email letters and social networks is much more personal than you would expect. In concert, he may tell of something hilarious that happened that morning or explain how he came to write the magnificent “Seeds of Love” for President Jimmy Carter — who then wrote Michael a very personal letter in response.
Michael will be celebrating the release of his new album, Songs of the Season, a collection of original and classic covers of Christmas and Wintertime songs. He’ll be playing songs from that album and his recent highly praised House of Sky, and songs from many of his early albums, from the days when he first played the Coachhouse.
Michael continues to make his Life his career, hosting Gatherings and Retreats and now, creating guided meditations to help others get started meditating. “Meditation has made my life so much better and I just want to share ways I can help others to see that it’s something they can do,” says Michael.
Michael Tomlinson is currently working on songs for two new albums in progress, writing online stories and essays almost daily, and performing occasional concerts and speaking events around the US. Some of his recent performances have been in San Diego, Indianapolis, Gulfport, Florida, Seattle, WA, Astoria, OR, and Mountainview, CA. His CoachHouse concert on November 18 will be a beautiful night of songs, stories and laughter.
