Ladysmith Black Mambazo, designated by the late Nelson Mandela as "South Africa's Cultural Ambassadors to the World," has been uplifting audiences worldwide for over six decades with their rich harmonies and dynamic, synchronized dance moves. Founded in 1964 by Joseph Shabalala, the five-time Grammy Award-winning a cappella group skyrocketed to global prominence following their historic collaboration on Paul Simon’s landmark 1986 album, Graceland.
Singing in the traditional South African vocal styles of isicathamiya and mbube, the ensemble originally served as a vehicle for hope and peaceful protest during the dark years of Apartheid. Today, led by Shabalala’s sons, the group carries its timeless message of peace, love, and harmony into the future, delivering a joyous, deeply moving live performance that connects cultures across the globe.
